An improvement to the KR-1 was the KR-1S. It featured a few changes with the most notable the exhaust system and the 5 spoke wheels.
It performed better than the KR-1 it replaced but still had the reliability issues plagued by the KR-1.
Also built especially for the Japan F3 racing was the rare KR-1R which featured larger carbs, stronger clutch and a close ratio gearbox.
